All Hallows eve, or Halloween as it is known today has changed dramatically over the years, more so I would think for the British, as it has grown way beyond the basic Trick or Treat as I remember as a child. Now I am watching very elaborately made up people of all ages enjoying a scare fest of almost American proportions! No atomic changes here, its about how big, how dramatic and really how shocking can we be. No tiny changes for me today either, other than upping the water consumption and the continuation of waiting an hour before coffee in a morning.
Dia Del Los Muertos…..The Day of the Dead…or days of the dead?
A festival borne out of a 3,000 year old ritual? Perhaps the most well known of the Halloween celebrations? Now people have been dying since we evolved, so no surprise that one of the oldest human actions has built both terror and celebration in possibly equal measure over the years. This habit is firmly ensconced globally with the only real changes being the amount of time the events are now made up of. Where as initial celebrations ran around the 1-2 day mark they are moving in to 3-4 days. People like a change and more so with a celebration or a tradition. So how will a celebration with a global reach, but nation specific events change in the future…
Redemption through the Dr Death NFT…
One way I saw this year, was an NFT launch on Halloween for the Order of the redeemed, by some artists that I met a few months back. Dr Death are “embarking on a journey in which the discovery and exploration of universal patterns are at the heart of a social movement, the micro-macro, the above, the below and the chasm that lies in-between. They call them the ancient ones, they look to us for answers of the past and we come forth to show them the future. Together we shall redeem the lost philosophies of mankind. Welcome to the Era of Redemption” The artwork of the NFTs will not be to every ones’s taste, but spend a bit of time looking in to it, the story, the lore and how they have put the FUTURE & PAST together, it is undeniably a fantastic way to fuse ancient and modern…
Zilliqa and Polygon are the chosen networks…
Not by God or the devil, but by Dr Death in this case, and here we see changes that could fit the Atomic definition both ways: both huge and tiny. NFTs should go with ETH Right? Well not really anymore, that has been a relatively short-lived tradition. As blockchains develop, I have previously mentioned the advent of layer 1`s / 2`s, we are seeing some great projects across other chains, due to their speed, costs, innovations and scalability. Some blockchains are looking at specialisms. Algorand is working with a lot of finance companies due to the functionality it provides at the Layer 1 level. Flow is targeting NFTs to handle them at scale whilst the use case grows. The world is moving away from the catch all technologies…
The Blockchain superstore is already changing…
Ethereum, the worlds computer, number two by market cap, a blockchain people have heard of, and a mainstay of the new digital world where all the projects sort of went. Huge change such as the component parts of a metaverse cannot be serviced from one place. Dr Death, I think were right to look at other blockchains beyond ETH, as the very core of what they stand for is happening. We will look to merge historical practices with thoroughly modern tech to create these specialisms. Just as we had shirt makers, cobblers and tailors before the off the peg, the one stop shop. In solving such issues as accessibility for all, easy peer to peer interactions and decentralisation, we will need to build products and services that will cover all the individual requirements on scale that can enable total inclusion. Just as we continue to celebrate life by remembering the dead, the innovative will take note of the past to shape a new world.
Tobar na Feusaig to the Blockchain…
